DOHA: China overpowered India 5-0 in a Group `A' badminton encounter at the Aspire Hall here on Thursday. Anup Sridhar made a promising start, tackling the World champion Lin Dan with competence in the first singles. He raced to a 5-1 lead, and led all along till 16-14. However at 19-19, the Chinese showed his class to take the first set at 21-19. In the second, Anup had his chances but Lin Dan raised his game a notch to take the set at 21-11. "I should have won the first set. He was pretty fast in the second. May be my preparation was not good enough,'' said Anup. In the doubles, Sanave Thomas and Rupesh Kumar tried hard but they were no match against their classy opponents in Fu Haifeng and Cai Yun. "It was the first time that I played against one of the world's top five players. I was too excited in the first set. I should have put a little more effort. I am disappointed,'' said Kashyap.
"We need to work hard to get fitter and stronger. Hope we do well in the individual events. It is not enough to play well in patches,'' said Gopichand The results: China beat India 5-0 (Lin Dan bt Anup Sridhar 21-19, 21-11; Cai Yun & Fu Haifeng bt Sanave Thomas & Rupesh Kumar 21-8, 21-11; Chen Jin bt P.
