Rajkumar defeats Skandanath

HYDERABAD: Rajkumar defeated Skandanath in the first round of the YMCA Open chess tournament for men and women at its Narayanguda branch here on Thursday.

Valerian School wins

Suraj's brace in the 13th and 25th minutes of the second half enabled Valerian Grammar School (Bolarum) clinch the Sudhakar memorial inter-school football tournament title with a 4-1 victory against St. Andrews in the final at the Trimulgherry Village ground here on Thursday.

Joshua Dharmender and Anuj scored in the 11th and 19th minutes of the first half respectively for the winner, while Sohail pulled one back five minutes into the latter half for St. Andrews. Cantonment Board Executive Officer, Valleti Premchand, gave away the prizes.

Rainbow Club posts win

Sai's goal in the 22nd and Niranjan's in the 23rd minutes of the second half enabled Rainbow Club post a 2-1 win over Bolarum in the Susai senior prize money football tournament here on Thursday.

Manibhushan scored for Bolarum in the 17th minute of the latter-half.

Vijendranath scalps five

Dr. Vijendranath's haul of five for 25 helped Sportive to post a four-run win over Lal Bahadur in the HCA `B' division one-day knock-out tournament here on Thursday.

The scores:

Sportive 222 for eight (P.L. Ajay 53, C. Abhiman 54, Ashwin Yadav 34) bt Lal Bahadur 218 (Chakradar 67, Vijay Anand 72, Dr. Vijendranath five for 25).

Deccan Colts 228 for nine (A. Sai Kumar 101, Ravi four for 30) bt Tirumala 143.
