BANGALORE: The Karnataka Olympic Association (KOA) presented its annual awards to 25 prominent sportspersons, administrators, promoters and three sports journalists. Chief justice of the Karnataka High Court, Cyriac Joseph, gave away the awards. G. Bindu Rani (athletics), Sharada Siddi (weightlifting) and B. Gangadhar (kho-kho) were present to receive their awards. Other awardees, Rohan Bopanna (tennis), G.M. Nischitha (badminton), L. Charles (fencing) and Varsha Bende (taekwondo) were not present as they are in Doha for the Asian Games. Sports promoter Shrenik N. Baldota was also absent. M.A. Ponnappa from Prajavani, P.R. Viswanath and K. Eshwar Rao (Doordarshan) were the journalists honoured. The KOA also honoured T. Shanmugham (Olympian footballer), M.K. Gopalaswamy (TT), T.R. Swamy (wrestling) and Dr. S.B.
