KURNOOL: An engineering first year student at GPR Engineering College Somasekhar (20) attempted suicide by consuming sleeping pills on Thursday. Tank scheme

CHITTOOR: As many as 1,380 irrigation tanks will be developed under irrigation tank scheme, according to district Collector S.S. Rawath. Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, he said that three tanks in each panchayat would be identified on a priority basis through gram sabhas. MADANAPALLE: Sub-Collector and Electoral Registration Officer A. Babu on Wednesday said that those who would complete 18 years of age as on January 1, 2007, should fill Form No. 5 to get enrolled in the electoral list. Form 7 is for deleting a name or the name of a dead person or change of residence, for any other correction it is Form 8 and for change of polling station centre, it is Form 8A. The filled form should reach the Sub-Collector or MRO on or before December 10. The forms are available on the Election Commission website www.eci.gov.in or www.ceoandhra.nic.in". -Correspondent

MADANAPALLE: Three temples in Kandukur village of Peddathippasamudram mandal were burgled on Wednesday. At Siva temple, burglars stole the mangalasutram of Ammavaru and a necklace. At Ramalayam, goddess Sita's mangalasutram was taken away and at Kanyakaparameswari temple, silver idols of the goddess were stolen. A CLUES team arrived at Kandukur to investigate .

Last date extended

VIZIANAGARAM: The last date for enrolment of voters for Legislative Council elections has been extended up to December 7. Those who have not enrolled their names can receive applications from Revenue Divisional Offices. -Correspondent

He said that a case was registered against Ranga Raju under Section 6-A of the Essential Commodities Act. The officials also seized 16 LPG cylinders from P. Venkata Ramana of the same village and a case was registered against him.-Correspondent
