JAIPUR: Elected women representatives of Panchayati Raj institutions participating in a State-level function here on Wednesday were asked to strengthen themselves for extending the benefits of welfare schemes to deserving people and empower women to get their rights. State Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Kalulal Gujjar, addressing the function held here as part of the Panchayat Mahila Shakti Abhiyan, said the State Government was committed to making women self-sufficient and help them evolve an independent identity. This could improve women's role in bringing about changes in the society. The participants in the function deliberated on women's role in the implementation of social security schemes, Kuteer Jyoti Yojana, Jeevan Amrit Yojana, etc. Mr. Gujjar said women should establish their identity through integrity, transparency, devotion and a strong commitment to improve the standard of living in the rural areas. Aditi Mehta, Joint Secretary in the Union Panchayati Raj Ministry, underlined the need for evolving a network of elected women representatives for sharing of experiences and strategies.
