A boon for differently-abled

NEW DELHI: To make technology a regular part of the lives of the differently-abled, Indian Spinal Injuries Centre (ISIC) has recently set up the Department of Assistive Technology (DAT) with the collaboration of the University of Pittsburgh, the United States, at its campus here.

The only one-of-its-kind in India, the Department is completely devoted to the innovative and advanced system of assistive technology delivery system for improving the lives of those who need wheelchairs, crutches or other assistive devices to lead normal lives.

Yoga camp

NEW DELHI: Bhartiya Yog Sansthan will organise a five-day yoga camp at Yogashram and Anusadhan Kendra in Sector-3, Rohini, beginning December 5.

The camp will benefit those suffering from cervical spondylosis, frozen shoulder, back and leg pain, `lumbago' (waist pain), besides slip disc, feet and heels pain, cramp in calves and hand and foot drop. The last date for registration is Friday.

Symposium on biomedical research

NEW DELHI: The 6th Annual Symposium on "Frontiers in Biomedical Research" organised by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Centre for Biomedical Research, Delhi University, opened in the Capital on Thursday.

The three-day symposium focuses on an innovative technology called "Lab-on-Chip Technology" developed by Dr. Daman Saluja and her group from Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Centre for Biomedical Research in collaboration with Globionic Technologies Private Limited, Delhi.

School exhibition

NEW DELHI: Vishwa Bharati Public School, Noida, organised its annual exhibition-cum-project display, "Vishwa Expo-2006", earlier this week at its school premises. As many as 27 schools from the National Capital Region participated in this event that

involved path-breaking exercises and activity based competitions. Prizes were given away under various categories and the vote of thanks was proposed by Pricipal Veena Bhasin.

PNB Hindi function

NEW DELHI: Punjab National Bank organised its "Main Rajbhasha Function" at Karnataka Sangh auditorium here on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion, Chairman and Managing Director of the Bank S.C.Gupta appealed to the staff to augment the use of Hindi in the day to day working of the bank all levels. Staff members who emerged victorious in various Hindi competitions were presented awards and certificates.
