NEW DELHI: A 22-year-old man, who had allegedly killed his younger sister and her lover at Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh on November 6, has been arrested by the Crime Branch of the Delhi police. According to the police, the accused, Yasin, was arrested at Kabir Basti in Welcome Colony on Wednesday. A country-made revolver, allegedly used in the crime reported on November 6, was also recovered from his possession. During interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed to his involvement in the killings. The police said Riaz Ahmed (30) and Jamila (18), both residents of Mohalla Rukum Sarai in Bulandshahr, had been in love for the past one year but had kept their relationship under wraps fearing backlash from their respective communities. Riaz, a cable operator was from "Saifi" community, while Jamila -- one among 10 siblings -- was from "Qureshi" community, the police said. A month before the incident, the couple had eloped. Yasin, along with his younger brother Nasir and two others Gufran and Rafiq planned to take revenge. Yasin, with the help of his elder sister, Saira, called the couple at his house ostensibly to talk things out. When Riaz and Jamila arrived, Yasin and his accomplice shot them dead. While Riaz was shot thrice, Jamila sustained two gunshot injuries. Both of them died on the spot.
