Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala State Handicapped Persons' Welfare Corporation is preparing a package of innovative projects for the welfare of disabled persons, chairman of the Corporation Uzhavoor Vijayan, said here on Friday. Inaugurating the World Disabled Day observance at the Vocational Rehabilitation Centre for the Handicapped, Nalanchira, he said the Corporation had finalised plans to open offices and training centres in all districts. Self-employment programmes for the disabled would also be modified, he added. Mr. Vijayan also demanded a separate department headed by a Minister for effective implementation of the welfare projects. Ten physically handicapped students who completed training at the centre were given tool kits to equip them for self-employment.
