THRISSUR: Tamil Nadu won the Peerless South Zone junior football championship after topping the five-team league event at the Sree Kerala Varma College Ground here on Thursday. Despite playing out a 2-2 draw with Karnataka in its concluding league match on Thursday, Tamil Nadu topped the event with 10 points and qualified for the 43rd B.C. Roy Trophy National junior football championship to be held later this year. Antony Xavier (fourth minute) and Sabeeth (54th) scored for TN while Damodaran (40th) and Arokiaraj (44th) netted Karnataka's goals. Karnataka finished runner-up with eight points. K.P. Sunny, the Kerala Football Association secretary, gave away the prizes.
