Bengal calls the shots

Jhunjhunwala unbeaten on 87

KOLKATA: Bengal cornered all the glory on the opening day of its four-day Ranji Trophy Elite Group B league match against Mumbai at the Eden Gardens here on Friday.

Opting to bat on a flat pitch, Bengal compiled a healthy 226 for two. At close, Abhishek Jhunjhunwala was batting on a superb 87 and Manoj Tiwary was on nine.

The scores: Super League:

At Kolkata: Bengal 226 for two in 91 overs (A.P. Chakroborty 81, A. Jhunjhunwala 87 batting) v Mumbai.

At Delhi: Delhi 257 for six in 89 overs (A. Chopra 128 batting, V. Kohli 42, P. Kumar four for 53) v Uttar Pradesh.

At Mysore: Karnataka 301 for six in 90 overs (R. Uthappa 56, C. Raghu 62, T. Naidu 84 batting) v Haryana.

At Vadodara: Baroda 267 for five in 90 overs (C. Williams 146 batting, J. Martin 64) v Saurashtra.

At Mohali: Gujarat 208 in 75.5 overs (B. Thaker 85, L. Ablash five for 40) v Punjab 24 for no loss in 10 overs.

At Jaipur: Hyderabad 246 for five in 92 overs (Anirudh Singh 87, A. Rayadu 62) v Rajasthan.
