THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Directorate of Film Festivals has termed incorrect and highly biased the comment made by filmmaker T.V. Chandran that Malayalam films are neglected in the ongoing International Film Festival of India. The directorate clarified through an official release that adequate representation was given to Malayalam cinema at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), 2006. It may be noted that the IFFI had a retrospective dedicated to G. Aravindan, where five classic films by the filmmaker from Kerala were being screened. In the feature film category of the Indian Panorama, five of the total 20 films were in Malayalam, which constitute a big chunk of 25 per cent, the release said. Chandran himself was invited to be present on the screening of his film Aadum Koothu on November 25 along with his cast and crew. Other prominent film personalities from Kerala, who were invited to IFFI, include M.P. Sukumaran Nair, Sasi Paravoor, Prakash, Raju Mathew, Nedumudi Venu, K.S. Sethumadhavan and Madhu Kaithapram, it added.
