TIRUCHI: About 54 Public Distribution System (PDS) shops run by the Cooperatives Department were inspected by a flying squad led by the Joint Registrar of Cooperatives R. Jayaram on Thursday. During the inspection, short-fall in cash balance to the tune of Rs.12,406 and bogus invoices worth about Rs.24,000 were detected from some of the shops. A few other irregularities were also detected and departmental action has been ordered against the erring staff of the ration shops, according to a Cooperatives Department Press release.
