Campaign against infanticide

Staff Correspondent

  • It will go on till December 10
  • Awareness to be created on the role of women

Bidar: Jamat-e-Islami Hind on Friday launched a nation-wide campaign against female infanticide and other related issues. The campaign will be on till December 10.

"Sex selection before birth and abortion of female foetus are going on unchecked. This tendency is more among the urban educated class. We should stop this by educating the people.

"Or, this social evil will challenge the very foundations of our society," Assistant Secretary General Moulana Rafiq Khasmi told presspersons here.

"The organisation plans to do this by creating awareness about the role of women in society. We will also create a sense of responsibility among the people for their actions. This will deter them from indulging in such evil practices," he said.

"Many Muslims are ignorant of the finer aspects of Islamic laws of family life, marriage, divorce, property distribution among children and other issues. Their ignorance about the Shariat laws leads to personal and social problems," he said.
