Court to decide on plea of an accused to turn approver on Dec. 4

ANANTAPUR: The District and Sessions Court adjourned the preliminary hearing in the Paritala Ravindra murder case to December 15 by extending the remand of all accused till that date here on Friday. The court also reserved its decision on the petition of one of the accused for turning an approver to December 4.

The CBI and defence lawyers argued for about two hours on the petition of K. Ramamohan Reddy (A-9) seeking the court's permission for turning an approver for the probe agency. Security problems

After hearing both sides Judge K. Gaddenna reserved his decision on the petition to December 4.

Meanwhile, on the separate petitions filed by 11 other accused in the case to shift them from two Hyderabad prisons to the district jail near here, the judge examined the testimony of Jail Superintendent Fazal Haque. The jail official explained to the court that the jail was already overcrowded and had security problems.

Asked how the jail would cope with the situation when the accused would be required to be kept here during the trial, Mr. Haque informed the court that improvement in security measures were likely to be completed by that time.

Justice Gaddenna also extended the remand of 13 accused in the case to December 15. Conspiracy accused G. Suryanarayana Reddy alias Suri was not produced in the court due to lack of police escort as the police were engaged in duties pertaining to elections held to 28 gram panchayats on Friday.

Other accused - J. Srinivasa Reddy alias Moddu Sreenu, V. Hanumantha Reddy, T. Konda Reddy, P. Narayana Reddy, V. Rekhamaiah, V. Kondanna, V. Sreenivasulu, B. Ranganayakulu, M. Obi Reddy, T. Peddi Reddy, G. Venkateswar Reddy and K. Ramamohan Reddy - were brought from Hyderabad and presented in the court.
