SHIMLA: The World AIDS Day was observed here on Friday in the Department of Community Medicine at the Indira Gandhi Medical College and State Hospital. The theme for this year is "Stop AIDS -- Keep the Promise -- Accountability". A special feature of the function was "Ask the Doctors", where the doctors of IGMC answered queries from the public about AIDS. Red badges signifying commitment towards the cause were given to all the patients visiting OPDs in the hospital. Flagging off a rally of school children, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh claimed that there was a very high awareness level in the hill State with improved STD treatment and no transmission of HIV infection through blood.
