Bill on varsity status for CIEFL

New Delhi: A Bill to convert Central Institute of English and Foreign Languages (CIEFL) into a Central university was taken up for consideration in the Rajya Sabha on Friday. The Bill was moved by Minister of State for HRD D. Purandareswari. It seeks to provide greater autonomy for CIEFL as its role has become significant in the age of globalisation.

The institute offers world class education in English and foreign languages and has so far enjoyed the status of a deemed university. - PTI
