Hyderabad Book Fair begins

It will be open till December 11 from 2 p.m. to 8.30 p.m.

HYDERABAD: They are undoubtedly one of the best sources of knowledge, entertainment and awareness, that too, irrespective of time. Books, unlike other sources, are maintenance free and do not have an expiry date.

Proving that books are not time bound and that Internet has not sounded a death knell for them, nearly 200 stalls of publishers and book depots from all over the country are participating in the 21st Hyderabad Book Fair that commenced here at People's Plaza Grounds on Friday.

Beginning from novels to academic books, the exhibition is a one-stop destination for book lovers to purchase books pertaining to classics, literature, self-improvement, biographies, educational aids etc. And what more a discount of ten per cent is offered on every purchase.

Inaugurating the exhibition, National Book Trust Chairperson Bipan Chandra said book is the medium through which writers have changed this world into a better place for living and books continue to be the best friend for man.

Education Minister N. Rajya Lakshmi, who was the chief guest for the exhibition, said emphasis should be laid on publishing books that generate awareness on environmental issues, AIDS and responsibility towards the nation.

The expo will be open to public from 2 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. and will be on till December 11.
