Plea to clean drains

Dilip Rau hears grievances of residents of east zone


  • BMP Commissioner transfers 43 work inspectors
  • Senior Health Inspector placed under suspension

    BANGALORE: Removal of silt from roadside drains, eviction of hawkers from footpaths and maintenance of pavements were some of the common grievances that were put forth by the residents of Eastern parts of city before Administrator of Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) Dilip Rau on Friday.

    Mr. Rau, who heard the grievances of people from Koramangala, HMT Layout, ST Bed, Kalyananagar, Visvesvaraya Layout and surrounding areas, directed the officials concerned to look into the problems and resolve them at the earliest.

    Transfers

    Commissioner of BMP K. Jairaj has transferred 43 work inspectors, who having been working at the same place for several years, and deployed them at other places. "These transfers are aimed at better functioning of the Engineering Department," said an official press release.

    The Commissioner will inspect Cottonpet and Sri Krishna Rajendra Market wards on Saturday.

    Rally

    Employees of BMP's Health Department, members of Freedom Foundation and Hosmat School of Nursing, students from Bangalore Medical College, Lions club of Lady Bird, Service Civil International, Catholic Medical Guild and KVS College of Nursing took out a rally to mark World AIDS Day on Friday. To create awareness about the dreaded disease, a streetplay was also staged by members of Freedom Foundation.

    Suspended

    The BMP Commissioner has placed the Senior Health Inspector of South Zone S.C. Malekappa under suspension for allowing the owner of "Rasoi" to run the hotel in a basement on Nagarbhavi Main Road in Moodalpalya.

    The owner of the hotel had been slapped a fine and the hotel has been closed down, the release added.
