Thiruvananthapuram: The police suspect that a gang of drug peddlers, some of them addicts, was responsible for the murder of Muralidharan, 40, a Communist Party of India (CPI-M) worker at Manvila on Thursday night. Certain local politicians had been passing on information to the police about the activities of the gang. The police suspect the gang to have killed Muralidharan as a warning to other residents. Muralidharan was found injured near Irumbupalam at Manvila. He was rushed to Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Muralidharan was employed in the godown of a marble shop owner. He is survived by his wife, Jalajakumari, and daughters, Aswathy and Anashwara.
