Woman assaulted

New Delhi: A young woman was picked by two unidentified youths in the Capital on Friday and allegedly raped for two hours in a moving car before being pushed out on the outskirts of Palwal town near here.

The 27-year-old woman thumbed a ride in an Indica car from Ashram Chowk to go to Uttam Nagar in Delhi but was instead taken beyond Faridabad city and allegedly raped by the youths for around two hours, Palwal (rural) Superintendent of Police Yashwant Singh Lamba said. She was pushed out of the car on NH 2 in Palwal and reached Palwal City police station in a bedraggled condition, he said. The police had noted down the number of the Indica (HR 17 4296) but the woman said she did not know the two who had assaulted her, he added.

Robbers nabbed

NEW DELHI: Four alleged robbers have been arrested at Sarai Kale Khan by the Special Staff of the South Delhi police. The police claim to have recovered 40 larozepam sedative tablets from them. The accused have been identified as Kadir, Salim, Haidar and Nasir. The police said they used to rob passengers of their belongings by making them consume food laced with sedatives.

Five arrested

NEW DELHI: Five young men have been arrested by the South Delhi police on charges of involvement in cases of robbery, theft and attempt-to-murder. The police claim to have recovered two country-made pistols from them.

The accused, identified as Vikram, Raju, Rakesh, Barkat Ali and Rajkumar.

Held with firearms

NEW DELHI: The North-West Delhi police on Friday claimed to have arrested two suppliers of firearms at Prashant Vihar. Three firearms and 55 live cartridges were allegedly recovered from their possession. The police received a tip-off that two suppliers of firearms would come to Japanese Park in a Skoda car. A trap was laid and the accused, identified as Parvinder and Raj Kumar, were arrested.

Brothers killed

NEW DELHI: Two brothers were killed when a speeding Blueline bus hit their scooter near Liberty Cinema in Central Delhi on Friday. The bus driver was arrested. According to the police, the accident took place around 2-30 p.m. when the rashly driven bus ran over the victims while trying to overtake another bus, which was then picking up passengers. The injured were rushed to Lady Hardinge Medical College where they were declared dead on arrival. They were identified as Ramesh (43) and Dinesh (40) of Shalimar Bagh.

Godown fire

NEW DELHI: One person was killed and eight were injured in a major fire that broke out at a Hindustan Lever godown on Seed Farm Road in Alipur here on Friday. The injured included five women. According to the police, the fire broke out around 5 p.m. It took about six fire tenders over an hour to put out the blaze. The injured were rushed to Babu Jagjivan Ram and LNJP hospitals. The condition of one of the injured, Praful Chaubey, was stated to be serious.

The deceased is yet to be identified.
