Vijaya High School celebrates `Suvarna Karnataka Rajyotsava' in a unique way

A LAUDABLE EFFORT: Y.K. Muddukrishna, former Director of Kannada and Culture, addressing students at an exhibition in Hassan on Saturday.

HASSAN: As part of Suvarna Karnataka Rajyotsava programme, "Karnataka Exhibition" was inaugurated in Vijaya High School in Hassan on Saturday. The exhibition was organised by teachers and students of the institution.

The former Director of Kannada and Culture and founder-president of Karnataka Sugama Sangeet Parishad Y.K. Muddukrishna, who inaugurated the exhibition, said students and teachers had done a wonderful job by organising a exhibition of Karnataka — its history, folklore and heritage.

He said the decision of the Government to teach English from primary school could prove costly.

He said while it was easy to learn English, it would be difficult for children to learn Kannada.

Writer Roopa Hassan, the former president of the Kannada Sahitya Parishad Madana Gowda, and parishad's district unit president Ramesh spoke.
