DMK condemns Trinamool violence
Special Correspondent
CHENNAI:
Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam president and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi on Saturday condemned the violence by Trinamool Congress legislators in the West Bengal Assembly on Thursday.
Replying to a question, Mr. Karunanidhi referred to the criticism of the former West Bengal Chief Minister and veteran leader of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), Jyoti Basu.
"It appears that even the term, `democracy' may vanish from one's mind, after the State Assemblies and the Parliament have metamorphosed into fighting fields. There is a limit for anything," he said.
The West Bengal episode had dwarfed the violent clashes between the then two factions of the All-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam in the Tamil Nadu Assembly in 1988, he said.
