SHIMOGA: Assistant General Manager of the State Bank of Mysore (SBM) M. Mohan Das Shanbhog said here on Saturday that the State Government's efforts to boost industrial development had benefited the export business too, and this was a "welcome development". Inaugurating a seminar on "Export Procedures and Documentation", organised jointly by the Shimoga District Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI), EXIM Bank and Vivsvesvaraya Industrial Trade Centre (VITC) of Bangalore, Mr. Shanbhog suggested that industrialists take more interest in export activities by making use of the increased opportunities being created. He said it was erroneous to think that only industrialists should be interested in exports. All who were engaged in the production of quality goods could consider exporting them too, he said. Mr. Shanbhog said globalisation had thrown up tremendous opportunities for the export sector. "Entrepreneurs should make use of the positive aspects of globalisation and export their goods," he said. President of the Shimoga Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) K.V. Vasanthkumar who presided over the function said that the value of exports from the district could go up to Rs. 25 crore in the coming days in view of increasing industrial development activity.
