YSR's message

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy has reiterated the Government's commitment to the welfare of the disabled in the State and their prosperity in all aspects.

Applications invited

HYDERABAD: The Council for Advancement of People's Action and Rural Technologies (CAPART), an autonomous society under the Rural Development Ministry, has invited applications from NGOs for eight mandals in the State for implementing a new pilot programme `Grameen Vikas Andolan'.

The mandals are Maripeda, Chevella, Hindupur, Boodhan Pochampalli, Jadcharla, T.Sundupalli, Mulugu and Allagadda.

Applications should reach the regional representative and member-convener, CAPART regional committee, NIRD campus, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad-30 (Tel 24017851) by December 12. - Special Correspondent

Quota sought

HYDERABAD: At a meeting here on Saturday on Justice Rajinder Sachar Committee's report, the Andhra Pradesh Council of Churches has appealed to the UPA Government to include Scheduled Castes Christians under the purview of reservations by introducing a Bill in the current session of Parliament.

Yoga, karate meet

Sangareddy: Medak district Collector B. Venkatesam inaugurated the three day 52nd State level Yoga and Karate championships here on Saturday. More than 250 aspirants from 18 districts would be participating in these competitions. State Physical Directors' Association secretary Surender Singh and Government Junior College Principal Sarswathi also participated in the inaugural.

President to visit school on Dec. 11

Madanapalle: President Abdul Kalam will visit the Peepal Grove School on December 11 and interact with students, Mumtaj Ali, founder of the schooltold reporters here on Saturday. M. N. Venktachalamiah, former chief justice of Supreme Court and former Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission will preside over the function. The President will arrive in Gongivarilpalle, Sadam mandal, Chittoor district, where the school is located, from Tirupati by helicopter. — Correspondent

KURNOOL: A seminar was conducted on the `Importance of English' at Mahayogi Mahalaxmidevamma Degree College at Yemmiganur in Kurnool district on Saturday. Speakers Karunakar Reddy, R. KURNOOL: Joint Collector Ramsankar Naik on Saturday asked the Mandal Development Officers to identify villages where migration of labourers due to lack work was rampant. He told the officers here that suitable works would be sanctioned immediately to stop further migrations.

Kakinada: A free mega medical camp would be organised at Madhavapatnam village on the city outskirts on December 3 under the joint auspices of Kakinada Lions Club, Durga Somu Prasad Charitable Trust and Ramana Clinical Lab and X- ray clinic. Pilli Anantha Lakshmi, former MLA, will inaugurate the camp while social worker Somu Prasad attends as chief guest. - Correspondent

Kakinada: CPI (ML) Liberation party workers have staged dharna in front of the Collectorate here on Saturday protesting against the continued attacks on dalits with special reference to the police firing on dalits in Nagpur. Kakinada : The three day Andhra university Athletics Meet for men and women and inter collegiate cum University team selection trails were inaugurated at the Ideal college grounds here on Saturday. Traffic diversion

Kakinada: Vehicular traffic on the ADB road between Achampet junction and Samalkot will be diverted on Sunday morning from six am till noon in view of the 3-km run test being conducted for constables selection for the Girijan battalion, according to SP Battini Srinivasulu. He said vehicles from Samalkot side would be diverted via canal road to Kakinada. Similarly, vehicles from Achampet junction side would be diverted via Sarpavaram junction and from there to Samalkot through Canal road. - Correspondent
