PATHANAMTHITTA: The 36th State Volleyball Championship will be held at Mylapra near here from December 3 to 10. District Collector Ashok Kumar Singh said Transport Minister Mathew T. Thomas would inaugurate the championship, organised by the State Volleyball Association at 5 p.m. on December 3. Mr. Singh said a total of 14 teams of men and 10 teams of women would participate. He said arrangements were progressing fast for the smooth conduct of the eight-day event. The work on the stadium with a temporary gallery to accommodate as many as 10,000 spectators is in its final stage, according to general convenor Lesly Daniel. The Collector said the selection of the State volleyball teams for men and women would also be made from among the participants in the championship. The entry will be restricted through pass. The fares of the pass vary from Rs.100 to Rs.5000, the organisers said. Organising secretary Karunakaran Kadammanitta, convenor Joshua Mathew and District Volleyball Association secretary Santhan Malayalappuzha were also present.
