Traditional art from across the country under one roof

CHENNAI:
Be it antique jewellery, handlooms, handicrafts or Jaipur quilts, name it and it is available at the craft bazaar hosted by the Artisans Welfare Association.
Inaugurated by actor Namitha on Saturday, the exhibition brought the traditional arts of States from across the country under one roof. Every state was duly represented at the expo.
Besides the usual items, such as black metal from Hyderabad, stone jewellery from Jaipur, and leather products, there were also a range of kitchenware, terracotta pots from Rajasthan, and Panipat carpets.
The expo also showcased a range of acupressure health products. Other products featured include miniature paintings, carpets and cotton dress materials from Kashmir, and sheesham wood and teakwood furniture.
A wide range of handmade bags from Gujarat proved the centre of attraction at the expo. Banjara items, including purses and wall hangings, were also showcased.
The organisers said that most of the articles on display were both artistic and also useful in daily life.
The exhibition will be open till December 18 at Community Hall, C.P. Ramaswamy Road, Alwarpet, between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m.
