Power shutdown

CHENNAI: Power supply will be suspended on December 5 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. for maintenance work in K.K. Nagar: R.K. Shanmugam Salai, Ramasamy Salai, Lakshmanasamy Salai, Double Tank Colony, sectors 1, 2, 4 and 6, PSBB and Alagirisamy Salai.

Mayor meets Saidapet residents

City Mayor M. Subramanian told Saidapet residents that the Alandur over bridge would be built at a cost of Rs. 6.41 crore. He said that the Jones Road subway would be built at a cost of Rs. 10 crore. The Corporation and Railway would put in Rs. 5 crore each. The Mayor received 75 petitions, many of which sought employment.

Funds sanctioned for road repair

Rural Industries Minister Pongalur N. Palanisamy has sanctioned funds to carry out temporary works such as repair of roads in Guindy Industrial Estate.

Following a report published in these columns in November, the Minister inspected the industrial estate. He ordered sanction of funds to enable Tamil Nadu Small Industries Development Corporation to take up road repair work. Projects to provide facelift to the estate would commence in January 2007 under Industrial Estate Infrastructure Development Programme. A. Shanmugavelayuthan, president of Tamil Nadu Small and Tiny Industries Association and K. Gopalakrishnan, president of Industrial Estate Manufacturers' Association, were also present.

Yoga programme

Isha Foundation will hold a 13-day yoga programme featuring Shakthi Chalana Kriya and Shoonya meditation. An introductory session will be held on December 3 at 6 p.m. at centres in Purasawalkam and Gopalapuram. Regular classes will commence the next day. Call 93805-23347 or 98848-04646 for details.

Free classes

Satyananda Yoga Centre offers free classes for a month beginning December 10 between 5.30 a.m. and 7 a.m. at Bala Vidya Higher Secondary School in West Mambalam. Stress management classes are also conducted. Call 94440-01410 or 24746974.

Medical camps

Shree Jain Sangh will hold a free medical camp to check for ENT problems, eye disease, heart ailments and diabetes on Sunday at 9.30 a.m. The venue is at Jain Sthanak, 99, Bazaar Road in Saidapet. Contact: 93804-63614.
