Fishermen's groups clash

MACHILIPATNAM : Tension prevailed at Campbellpet village on Saturday following a clash between fishermen. As many as 24 fishermen of two political groups were injured. Two were shifted to GGH in Vijayawada. Their condition is stable.

According to the Bandar rural police, the problem began when a group of fishermen purchased fishing nets in wholesale market three days ago and were sharing them within the group. A fisherman raised an objection over the money being spent on the nets and alleged that the group leaders were doing this as a favour to the sympathisers of a political party. This led to a scuffle between two groups in the village. The police registered two separate cases based on complaints lodged by the leaders of the two groups.
