Consumer vedi protest

Staff Reporter

KOZHIKODE: Kerala Upabhokthru Prathikarana Vedi has urged Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan to take over the consumer portfolio from Minister C. Divakaran.

M.A.R. Ibrahim, general secretary of the vedi, said here on Sunday that Mr. Divakaran failed to implement the Act to protect the rights and interests of consumers in the State.

He said the district forums of the Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission were hardly functioning.

This happened as the posts of presidents and members of these forums were not filled. The district forums were formed to redress the complaints from consumers under the Consumer Protection Act.
