CHENNAI: Comedian Vivek has a legion of fans among the Tamil audience. He was in for a surprise on Saturday, when superstar Rajinikanth said that he was a fan of Vivek. Rajinikanth praised Vivek's onscreen ability to create endless ripples of laughter among the audience. Tamil cinema's No.1 star described Vivek as an "intellectual." The occasion was the cassette and CD release of Indian Theatre Production `Solli Adippean' at Sathyam Cinemas. "I did not get much opportunity earlier to work with him. But, now we are working together in AVM's `Sivaji'. Sometimes, I get the feeling that Vivek knows everything. I wonder how he gets so much information and news, but he is ready to talk on any subject. "Also, Vivek knows no religion, caste or creed like me. I like the way he performs his comic roles in films, and when he asked me to come to this function I readily agreed," Rajinikanth said, while wishing the film all success. The function was attended by directors K. Balachander, Rama. Narayana and Shankar. Director Shankar spoke about his friendship with Vivek, and described how he wanted to work with the comedian. Mr. Balachander described Vivek as a handsome man who is also "hero material." Mr. Narayanan said, "Vivek played the lead role in some of my films, and his sense of comedy is really great. I wanted him to become a hero, and `Solli Adippaen' is a good beginning."
