Sharmila not taking food

New Delhi: Irom Chanu Sharmila, the Manipuri who is on a hunger strike demanding repeal of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act, on Sunday refused to take food through the nose.

Ms. Sharmila's condition was deteriorating, her brother Irom Shingjit Singh said, adding she had even refused to meet him. A doctor attending on her refused to say anything on her condition.

Though Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Saturday said the Government was considering bringing amendments to the Act she refused to call off her protest. — PTI
