Rudolph to lead Rest of SA

Special Correspondent

Centurion: Jacques Rudolph will captain Rest of South Africa in the four-day tour game against India from December 7 at Potchefstroom.

The left-handed Rudolph is a strong contender for a batting slot in the first Test beginning at the Wanderers on December 15.

The eleven named for the tour game also includes powerful stroke-maker Justin Kemp, left-arm chinaman bowler Paul Adams, and fast bowler Nantie Hayward.

Meanwhile, India captain Rahul Dravid's fractured right middle finger is healing well. The side's media manager Rajan Nair said, "a decision, whether to remove the cast or not, will be taken on Monday. Expert advice would be sought."

Dravid has been advised against fielding in the slips.

Mr. Nair said Munaf Patel's fitness would be reassessed a day before the tour game.

The paceman is recovering from an injured ankle.

The team:

Rest of South Africa XI: J. Rudolph (captain), P. Adams, J.P. Duminy, N. Hayward, J. Kemp, G. Kruger, M. Morkel, A. Petersen, V. Philander, V. Jaarsveld, M. Wyk.
