Insurance department official trapped

BANGALORE:
The Belgaum Lokayukta police on Friday caught a first division assistant (FDA) in Insurance Department while allegedly accepting Rs. 3,500 for doing an official favour.
R.A. Mareppagol, the FDA, had allegedly demanded Rs. 4,000 from Jagadish Tigadi for settling claims related to three insurance policies of Mr. Tigadi's father. The official agreed for Rs. 3,500.
On a complaint, the Lokayukta police trapped Mareppagol while he was accepting the money in his office.
In an other case, the Principal District and Sessions Judge, Dharward, has sentenced a town planning official Kadappa B. Chalawadi to two years rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs. 5,000 on him for accepting a bribe of Rs. 5,000 for issuing a no-objection certificate in 1997.
