`Intrusion' into house of retired teacher in Pudur village

K. Chandrashekhar Rao

KARIMNAGAR: The Kodimial police in Karimnagar district registered a case against TRS president K Chandrashekhar Rao and issued a non-bailable warrant against him for allegedly trespassing into the house of a retired teacher. The house was raided on the pretext of checking the distribution of liquor and money by Congress activists in the byelection to Karimnagar parliamentary constituency, in Pudur village in the early hours of Sunday.

Police sources said that Mr Chandrashekhar Rao, in order to check the distribution of liquor and money to lure voters in Jagtial Assembly segment, drove down, alongwith his supporters, to Pudur village in the mandal.

They reached the residence of H Malla Reddy, a retired teacher and Congress supporter, and woke him up. As soon as Mr Malla Reddy opened the door, TRS activists allegedly snatched his cellphone and disconnected his landline and ransacked the house on the pretext of searching for liquor and money, which they alleged was kept by the Congress in the house.

Complaint lodged

When they did not find anything, the TRS activists left the scene. Mr Reddy lodged a complaint with the Kodimial police. The police registered cases under IPC Sections 143, 148, 452, 353 506, 341, 171 A and 171 F and issued a non-bailable warrant against Mr Chandrashekhar Rao.

Meanwhile, district Congress leaders staged a dharna in front of the Collectorate here on Sunday in protest against the attack on the retired teacher.

Jagtial legislator and Congress nominee T Jeevan Reddy condemned the act of TRS activists.
