BANGALORE: Three persons were killed in two accidents in the city on Sunday. Venkatesh (35) and Shaktivelu (27) were on their way to Tiruvannamalai in Tamil Nadu when they reportedly lost control over their motorcycle. The two who fell off the vehicle sustained head injuries and died later. The incident occurred around 5.30 a.m. near Bommanahalli in Madiwala Police Station limits. A case has been registered. In another incident, Ratna J. Ranka (40) who was riding pillion on a motorcycle with her husband Jayachandra Ranka (46) was killed in an accident at 11.30 a.m. near the Rajiv Gandhi statue in Seshadripuram. The police said that an Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation bus had hit the vehicle. Mr. Ranka, who sustained injuries, has been admitted to K.C. General Hospital. Ratna was killed on the spot. A case has been registered.
Fire
Two cases of fire were reported on Sunday. The house of Sathya Chakramgopal in Dasappa Layout caught fire owing to gas leak. The incident was reported at 9.30 a.m. Fire tenders rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control. In another incident, fire broke out in a house in Lakshmidevinagar also owing to gas leak. Fire tenders rushed to put out the fire.
Assault charge
The Kumaraswamy Layout Police have arrested Nasarulla on the charge of assaulting Babu, an autorickshaw driver. The police said that Nasarulla and his wife Ameenulla had on Saturday gone to Babu's house to collect the money they had lent him. Babu allegedly insulted Ameenulla and enraged by this, Nasarulla reportedly assaulted Babu.
