Scholarship for Standard IX student

S. Sai Visesh, a Standard IX student of Sri Sankara Senior Secondary School, has been awarded a four-year scholarship by Raffles Institutions, Singapore, till Standard XII. He is one of 105 students selected from the Chennai region selected to receive the scholarship.

Sai has been receiving general proficiency prizes since he was in Standard I, and has been doing very well in mathematics, often scoring centum in the subject.

Students of Sindhi Model Senior Secondary School have compiled select articles from The Hindu group of publications into a scrapbook. Most of the articles chosen are on science and technology. Students have named the collection `The NIE (Newspaper in Education) Reference Album'.

Nursery teachers of the school recently put up a special puppet show for differently-abled children. The show highlighted the importance of values such as compassion for animals, and respect for the elderly.

Students of Daniel St. Thomas Matriculation, Koyambedu, explored themes such as water, light, air and sound in `Illuminations', a science expo held as part of `Funtabulous'.

Students of higher classes, who chose `2020' as their theme, showcased advancements in science and technology. They explored the possibility of inventing robots in fields such as agriculture, medicine, aviation and security. Students put up several stalls showcasing interesting models on various topics.
