Super luxury services to Hyderabad launched

  • New services mark platinum jubilee
  • `Palle velugu' buses, replacing red buses, are passenger-friendly

    VIJAYAWADA: T he Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) launched new super luxury and modern express bus services in Vijayawada region on Monday.

    MLA V. Radhakrishna inaugurated a couple of super luxury bus services from the city to Hyderabad and KPHBC, while chairman of RTC's zonal committee Jogi Ramesh inaugurated as many modern express bus services from Vijayawada to Bhadrachalam and Rajahmundry.

    Addressing a meeting on the occasion, Mr. Ramesh said the Congress, in keeping with its promises made at the time of the elections, had successfully pulled the RTC out of the financial crisis by allocating to it funds to the tune of Rs. 400 crores. He said Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy had great concern for the welfare of RTC workers. The road transport corporation, which had accumulated losses to the tune of Rs. 1,000 crores, had garnered profits worth Rs. 172 crores, thanks to the exemplary show by officials and the staff.Regional Manager M. Seetapathi said the new services were launched as part of the RTC's platinum jubilee celebrations. He said there were additional features in the newly-launched services like use of attractive colour patterns, more space for luggage, improved and latest technology cushion seats and enhanced illumination around the space where names of the routes were specified. He said the `Palle velugu' buses, which replaced ordinary red buses, were passenger-friendly.
