Elaborate security arrangements

CUDDALORE: The police in Cuddalore and Villupuram district have tightened security at important places and vital installations on the eve of the Babri Masjid demolition anniversary.

The places of worship are well guarded, with personnel from the bomb disposal squad, assisted by sniffer dogs, checking the vehicles and baggage of the visitors.

At railway stations and bus stands the passengers and their luggage were scrutinised thoroughly. Not to leave any thing to chance, the lodges have also come under the scanner.

Police picketing is also posted at places where the people gather in good numbers.

Highway patrolling and night patrolling have been intensified. The arrangements will continue till Thursday morning.
