Special Correspondent
Puducherry: Convener of the Karaikal Struggle Group (KSG) and president of Puducherry Cauvery Delta Farmers Legal Action Committee S.P. Selvashanmugham has called upon the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister to scrap the list finalised by the Puducherry Government for selection of constables through a test held recently. In a release on Tuesday, Mr. Selvashanmugham said that the department had selected only six candidates from Karaikal, while finalising the list of 175 candidates for the post of constables. He said that he had brought to the notice of the Prime Minister and the Home Minster the gross injustice meted out to the Karaikal region. While six candidates from Mahe (having two Assembly seats) five from Yanam (one) had been selected, only five candidates were selected from Karaikal (having six seats). The remaining 149 candidates were from Puducherry. So, the KSG had decided to intensify its agitation to obtain a separate Union Territory status for Karaikal.
