KURNOOL: Any society would be considered civilised only when it takes care of the disabled and the underprivileged, M.A. Gafoor, MLA, has said. Addressing a meeting in connection with the World Disabled Day here on Tuesday, he underscored the need for enhancing the financial allocation for the physically challenged. He said opportunities should be created for the physically challenged on par with others to lead a normal life.
Easy access
Collector M. Dana Kishore said Monday's grievance centre was being conducted downstairs in the Collectorate mainly for the convenience of physically challenged. He said hereafter public offices would create provision for easy access of the physically challenged. After the meeting, the guests distributed assets to beneficiaries, which included Rs. 2.95 lakhs for six groups, tricycles for 20, hearing aids for 160 and Braille slides for 10 and Rs. 72,000 for eight beneficiaries. Later, the physically challenged children enthralled the audience with their emotion-packed performances. One girl with paralysed legs danced using her hands.
