Corrections and Clarifications

A reader points out that D. Raja is CPI National Secretary, and not a CPI MP as stated in "Dalit rally foiled in Nagpur" (December 5, 2006).

It is the Representation of the People Act, and not the Representation of People's Act as stated in "Deve Gowda lodges protest with CEC" (December 4, 2006). The Act's title is often wrongly mentioned in news reports.

A reader points out that the caption of the accompanying picture in the column "Second Thoughts" ("Monumental searches", Literary Review, December 3, 2006, page 5) was misleading. It said: "Grave Tales: From left: the last resting places of Edgar Allan Poe ... ." The reader adds, "In fact, as the headstone in the photo says (though the inscription is not very clear), this was where his body lay till 1875. Poe's body was later moved to a different site." The text supports what the reader says.
