GUNTUR: People's representatives must take the responsibility of rooting out incidence of HIV from Guntur district by reaching out to every person with missionary zeal to spread awareness on this dreaded virus, said Zilla Parishad Chairperson Kuchipudi Vijaya.

Speaking at the awareness camp for MPTCs, ZPTCs organised by CHARCA Project, she said that they were the people's representatives with whom people can relate themselves and speak freely, hence bringing awareness on HIV could be effectively done by them. "None must feel shy to speak on AIDS or HIV and only then can we tell people on the ways and means of keep this dreaded virus away from the future citizens." District with high-prevalence of HIV was now slowly showing signs of downtrend, but it had to be brought down to zero, she explained.
