Suspected militant killed in blast

Srinagar: A suspected militant was killed and 13 civilians injured when a grenade he was carrying exploded in his hand near a bus stand in Baramulla town, 55 km from here on Tuesday.

Muneer Ahmad Bhat was waiting with the explosive for a target, probably a security vehicle, at Azadgunj in Baramulla around 11 am, when suddenly it went off, killing him and injuring 13 pedestrians, Senior Superintendent of Police, Baramulla, Viplav Kumar told PTI.

Bhat suffered critical injuries, Mr. Kumar said. Mr. Kumar said Bhat, who was not in a position to give his statement, was shifted to Srinagar for treatment, where he succumbed to injuries. — PTI
