`Disband higher education panel'

KOZHIKODE: The Higher Education Commission formed by the Government, with Dr.K.N. Panikkar as chairman, should be dismissed as it was targeted at `controlling educational institutions,' ABVP State secretary V.P. Rajeevan said.

Talking to reporters here, Mr. Rajeevan and ABVP joint-secretary P. Sudheer said the decision to form the Commission without consulting the academic community revealed the `haughtiness of the Government.' ABVP will observe Ambedkar Memorial Day as Social Equity Day (December 6) in all education institutions and December 13 Parliament attack anniversary day as anti-terrorism day.

Warns of agitation

ABVP will launch a strong agitation if the Government does not withdraw from its anti-student policies, they said.
