First ODI abandoned
Rawalpindi: Heavy rain on Tuesday forced the abandonment of the opening one-day international cricket match between Pakistan and the West Indies.
Umpires Daryl Harper of Australia and Aleem Dar from Pakistan called off the game at 9 a.m. local time (9:30 a.m. IST) at the Pindi Cricket Stadium following two days of persistent rain.
``After inspecting the ground, the umpires called off the match,'' a Pakistan Cricket Board official, Naushad Ali, said.
The second game of the five-match series will be played at Faisalabad on Thursday, followed by matches at Lahore (December 10), Multan (December 13) and Karachi (December 16).
Pakistan had won the three-Test series 2-0. AP
