NEW DELHI: A batch of seven athletes, including the women's 4x100 metres relay team, left here on Tuesday for Doha to participate in the Asian Games. On Monday, 13 athletes had reached Doha from Muscat where they had been training while another batch comprising jumpers and a heptathlete (Soma Biswas) had gone from here. Long jumper Anju George has also reached Doha. The middle and long distance runners are to leave from Bangalore on Wednesday while on Thursday, Tintu Luka, a member of the women's 4x400m team, and P. T. Usha are expected to join the rest of the team. Discus thrower Seema Antil who had been reported for a positive dope test and whose participation is in doubt, is likely to leave on December 8 if the AFI eventually decides to defy the Union Sports Ministry's directive. The athletes who left here on Tuesday were Poonam Tomar, H. M. Jyothi, Deepthi Jose, Nidhi Singh and Anuradha Biswal (4x100m), V. S. Sureka (pole vault) and P. J. Vinod (decathlon).
