Workshop on aquaculture

Special Correspondent

JAIPUR: A national workshop on aquaculture in waterlogged areas and small water bodies beginning in Bharatpur town of Rajasthan on Wednesday will strengthen linkages among experts, stakeholders and policy makers for increasing fish yield and employability.

The two-day workshop is being organised jointly by the Directorate of Fisheries and the Lupin Human Welfare and Research Foundation. Fisheries experts from various States, representatives of fish cooperatives and NGOs and Government officials will attend the workshop.

Lupin Foundation's Executive Director Sitaram Gupta said on Tuesday that the workshop would focus on low productivity aspects of fisheries in small water bodies and deliberate on scientific management of fisheries. He pointed out that though the maximum fish production came from small water bodies, the productivity of fish yield in them was much less than the national average.
