Leprosy Month to be observed in January

Hassan: National Leprosy Month will be observed from January 1 to January 31 and during that period a survey would be conducted on leprosy patients who have been cured of the disease, zilla panchayat Chief Executive Officer F.R. Jamaadar said here on Monday. He was presiding over a review meeting convened on the eradication of leprosy. During the month, essay competitions will be held for high school students. The health education wing attached to District Health Officer's office will screen a video on leprosy, its signs and symptoms, to create awareness among people.

Mr. Jamaadar said through the month leprosy patients would be provided with chappals and woollen blankets.
