Dacoits take away nine tonnes of steel

BANGALORE: A gang of about 25 armed dacoits attacked the security guards at a construction site on Bellary Road on the outskirts of the city in the early hours of Tuesday and made away with nine tonnes of steel, estimated at Rs. 8 lakh.

Police said that around 4 a.m. the dacoits arrived in a lorry at Nagenahalli Gate in Rajankunte police station limits, where an apartment complex is being constructed. They attacked the three security guards and took away the steel in the lorry.

On a complaint by the project manger of the construction company, Suraj, the Rajankunte police have registered a case.

House burgled

Burglars struck at a house in Koramangala police station limits in the early hours of Tuesday and made away with a laptop and other articles, together worth Rs. 1 lakh.

Police said the incident took place at Sumanth Das's second floor house on 14th Cross, 4th Block, Koramangala. On a complaint by Das, an employee of an IT company, the Koramangala police have registered a case.

Arrested

The Devarajeevanahalli police have arrested two persons who had allegedly murdered a garment factory employee and robbed him of cash on November 25.

The arrested were identified as Ramesh (27) and James (27), both residents of Kavalbyarasandra. The two had waylaid Prabhu Gopinath near P&T Quarters in Kavalbyarasandra and murdered him, the police said.

In another case, the Whitefield police have arrested L. Janardhan (41) of Immadihalli who had allegedly murdered his uncle following a property dispute.

The police said that on November 30, the accused had hacked his uncle N. Ramaiah to death at his house in Immadihalli.
