Ticket-checking drive by SCR

South Central Railway has organised a special massive ticket checking drive at Nallapadu, Namburu and Vejendla stations of Guntur division involving 48 ticket checking staff of headquarters flying squad and divisional squad.

As many as 256 cases of irregular travel were booked and an amount of Rs. 33,913 was collected from the erring passengers.

Besides this, 19 passengers who were travelling without ticket were produced before the special judicial magistrate for railways for prosecution.

Vacant land tax

Owners of vacant sites in the city will have to pay vacant land tax to the civic body on or before December 25. Addressing a meeting of owners of vacant sites and representatives of residential colonies' welfare associations, Municipal Commissioner Natarajan Gulzar said that stringent action would be initiated against those who failed to pay the tax before the stipulated period.
